Pulling the vacuum pipe off the EGR valve will do the same thing. and may not solve any issues you may have. A blanking plate is cheap, something approx 2mm thick if you can. Focus mk2.5 TDCi engine misfires at low RPM, medium load and goes limp. Runs perfect with EGR disconnected, but won't pass MOT like that. Have tried disconnecting battery to reset PCM and used Forscan reset l all pipes fail eventually dependant on luck. Item 3 is a plastic pipe that bolts onto the underside of the car. The pipe from the egr vale connects onto item 3 from one side and then another hose connects on the other side of item 3 and goes to the intercooler. Replaced the hose - £65 from good old fordy - and turbo is boosting again! yippeee. It had been leaking at the thermostat housing. Since that point, the area around the thermostat housing is bone dry, no water to be seen, this is also the case with the expansion bottle.
